Strawberry Banana Smoothie

A refreshing Strawberry Banana Smoothie made with vanilla soy milk, strawberries, and bananas.

I love a good smoothie. They are refreshing and a great snack or breakfast on the go.

I also love making my smoothies at home. They are a great way to get rid of extra fruit you have on hand or that bunch of frozen bananas that have been left in your freezer for way to long. Making your smoothie at home allows you to have more control  over the sugar that is being added.

It is easy to think you are making a healthy choice when you purchase a smoothie out at a restaurant. However, I have been shocked to see the amount of calories I was in-taking in what I thought was a healthy snack. This Strawberry Banana Smoothie is made with a touch of honey and no added sweeteners. Just the sweetness from the strawberries.

This smoothie tastes more like a dessert than a healthy snack. It’s a great replacement when you are craving something sweet without the guilt. It is also a great midway snack or a quick breakfast on the go. I like making one of these as a post workout snack.

You can always substitute regular milk or almond milk for the soy. If you do not have any milk on hand substitute Greek yogurt instead.

You can substitute any fruit along with the banana. Blueberries, or raspberries would be a good substitute. The banana provides a nice creamy thick texture to the smoothie. I used an extra ripe banana for this recipe. You can use frozen banana if you have that on hand.

This smoothie is so simple to make. The hardest part of this recipe is cleaning it up!

To make the Strawberry Banana Smoothie simply throw the banana, strawberry, milk, ice, and honey together in a blender and pulse. Pour into a tall glass and enjoy!
